About Us
A BAND CALLED POP is an auditioned student ensemble at the UNITED Music School and the Knickerbocker Music Center in Westerly, RI with participants representing 4 high schools from southern Rhode Island and southeastern Connecticut.
MISSION
​Unlike other youth ensembles, PoP focuses as much on character and leadership development as it does on music education. These talented teens plan, create, problem solve, evaluate, and learn as a group, gaining life skills far earlier than their peers. They emerge from their time with PoP as the next generation of musicians, but also the next generation of leaders and community members as well as confident, fulfilled human beings.
REPERTOIRE
You’ll hear their renditions of Blondie, Led Zeppelin, Heart, Alanis Morrisette, Taylor Swift and many more! With more than one hour of solid pop favorites on their setlist, including guitar and drum solos, killer harmonies, and stage antics, their sound leaves audiences stymied at how young they are but clamoring for more.
